Organised Camino de Santiago: no group, no worries

If you're searching for "organised Camino de Santiago" you probably have two images in mind: the group in matching caps following a little flag, or weeks of evenings spent comparing accommodation, distances and bus times. There's a third way, and it's the one we've been doing since 2016.

It's called self-guided: you walk, we organise. You leave on the date you choose, at your own pace, with the people you want. No guide out front, no group to follow, no logistics to manage.

What "organised" really means

A well-organised Camino isn't something you see: it's something you feel. It means reaching the end of a stage and finding your bag already in your room. It means knowing every evening where you'll sleep, without having booked a thing. It means opening the app and seeing tomorrow's route, even with no connection.

In practice: we select the accommodation one by one along your itinerary, move your luggage stage by stage, set up the app with your day-by-day journey and stay reachable along the whole route. The credential reaches your home before you leave, in the welcome kit. The rest is up to you: you walk.

Organised doesn't mean in a group

It's the most common misunderstanding. An organised Camino isn't a group trip: it's your Camino, with the logistics solved. About half of our travellers set off on their own. The others as a couple, as a family, with friends. And when the opposite is what's needed, we organise real groups too: up to 250 people at once.

That's exactly the point. The Camino already asks enough: legs, head, heart. The logistics shouldn't be part of the effort.

The most chosen organised itineraries

The best-loved starting point is the Camino from Sarria: the last 100 km of the French Way in 5 stages, the most accessible way to earn the Compostela. Anyone after a gentler finish chooses the Portuguese from Tui or from Vigo, anyone who wants fewer crowds the English from Ferrol or the Primitivo from Lugo. If you have more days, the Portuguese Coastal from Porto gives you the ocean for two weeks, and the full French from Saint Jean Pied de Port is the trip of a lifetime: 800 km over more than a month. In all we organise 57 itineraries, across 9 countries.

How much an organised Camino costs

Who organises it

We're a tour operator based in Santiago de Compostela, founded by Italians, licence XG-803. We've walked the Camino more than 90 times, and there are over 150 caminos we've walked in person before offering them. Since 2016 we've accompanied more than 30,000 people, who've left us over 550 reviews with an average of 4.8 out of 5. Our book, "How to Organise the Camino de Santiago", has passed 50,000 copies.

How you start

Three steps. Tell us about your Camino: who you are, when you'd like to leave, how much time you have. You receive a proposal built to measure, with itinerary and accommodation. You confirm it and receive the app with your day-by-day journey and the welcome kit at home. Then only the best part is left: walking.

Frequently asked questions

Does an organised Camino mean walking in a group?

No. Self-guided is the opposite: you leave when you want, with whom you want, at your own pace. We prepare accommodation, luggage, app and support. Groups only exist if you ask for them.

Can I set off on my own?

Yes, and it happens all the time: about half of our travellers set off solo. The route is well signposted, the app guides you and we stay reachable along the whole Camino.

How far ahead should I book?

For spring and September, the most in-demand months, the ideal is to move 3 or 4 months ahead: the best accommodation along the Camino is limited and sells out early. At the last minute you can almost always still leave, with some compromise on the properties.

And if something happens to me along the route?

You call us. We're in Santiago, we know the route metre by metre and we sort it out with you: a shortened stage, a transfer, a change of accommodation. It's the reason we exist. It's also why the journey works at any age: we talk about it in the guide to the Camino de Santiago over 60.
