How it works

Portugal's wild ocean, one step at a time

Portugal's southwest coast is one of the last truly wild stretches in Europe. Cliffs plunging into the Atlantic, beaches with no one on them, sand and rock paths between fishing villages. You walk self-guided, at your own pace, with no groups and no fixed dates. We design the route, book the hotels stage by stage and stay reachable every day. You just walk.

There is no single way to walk Portugal's southwest coast. The Fisherman's Trail hugs the ocean on paths still used by fishermen today, between sand and cliffs: the most spectacular and most demanding stretch. The full Rota Vicentina links Porto Covo to Lagos over two weeks, alternating coast and inland. The Fishermen's Way with Lisbon adds the city at the start, for a gentler version.

You can walk all year, but spring and autumn are the best seasons: flowers on the cliffs, long light, the right temperatures. The sandy stages call for trained legs, but you don't need to be an athlete: we build the route around your pace, with the option to shorten or add days.

Every trip is self-guided and tailor-made. We book selected hotels stage by stage, give you the app with maps and GPS tracks, insurance and a dedicated contact reachable every day. No groups, no fixed departures.

FAQ

Questions, the most common ones

Which trails can you walk on Portugal's coast?

Three itineraries: the Fisherman's Trail (65 km, the pure coastal stretch), the full Rota Vicentina from Porto Covo to Lagos (206 km) and the Fishermen's Way with Lisbon (75 km, gentler). We build them tailor-made around your dates and your pace.

How many days do you need?

From 6 to 13 walking days, depending on the itinerary. You can shorten or add stages: we decide together in the proposal.

Do I need to train?

The sandy and clifftop stages are demanding, but you don't need to be an athlete. Being used to walking a few hours a day is enough. We set the distances to your pace.

When is the best time?

Spring and autumn: mild weather, flowers on the cliffs, long light. You can also walk in winter; in high summer the heat and crowds on the Algarve are less ideal.

Do I have to go in a group or on fixed dates?

No. Every trip is self-guided: leave when you want, walk on your own, with no group. We handle accommodation, logistics and support.
