How much does the Camino de Santiago cost: real prices, item by item

Almost every website answers this question with a vague number and an asterisk. We do the opposite: below you'll find the starting price of every one of our routes to Santiago, the same ones you see on the trip pages. Then we explain what they include, what makes them vary, and how much you'd spend doing it all yourself.

An honest note first: every journey starts from a clear price, and from there it's built to measure, around your dates, your rhythm and the accommodation you prefer. The "from" in front of the figure isn't a trick: it's the real starting point in a double room.

How much does the Camino de Santiago cost: the real brackets

A week on the last 100 km costs from 395€ to 515€ per person. Ten to fifteen days on a longer stretch, from 560€ to 915€. The complete French Way, five weeks from Saint Jean Pied de Port, from 2.130€. Everything else sits in between.

What these prices include

Every night in accommodation selected one by one, with breakfast where the property offers it. Luggage transfer between stages: you walk with a light daypack, your suitcase is waiting when you arrive. The credencial for the stamps, sent to your home in a gift box before you leave. And the app with GPS tracks and the day-by-day plan, offline too. Sports medical insurance, included by default for everyone: safety isn't an add-on. And direct support throughout the journey: if the bus doesn't come or a stage needs shortening, you call and we answer, from Santiago.

What they don't include: flights. We don't sell them and we don't mark them up; we point you to the best combination for your dates and you book it.

And doing it all yourself, how much does it cost?

Let's do the real maths, for a week from Sarria. A bed in a municipal albergue costs 10-15€ a night, a private one 15-20€: seven nights come to 90-140€. A guesthouse with a private room and bathroom, the kind we book, runs from 40 to 70€ a night per room: 280-490€ a week. Luggage transfer is bought per stage, 6-8€ a bag: another 35-50€. Then there's the time: choosing and booking seven right properties, in the right stages, with the right distances, takes hours, and in high season the best places vanish months in advance.

The honest summary: if you sleep in an albergue with your pack on your back, going solo costs less, and if that's your Camino it's the right choice. If you want a private room, luggage carried and someone who answers when you need them, the gap with the organised trip narrows until it almost disappears. What's left is the difference between organising and simply walking.

What makes the price vary

The season: July and August cost more than May or September. The room: a single carries a supplement, because the properties charge more for it. The category: you can move up to accommodation with more character and more comfort. Extra nights: one more night in Santiago on arrival is the most frequent request we get, and it always has a clear price before you confirm. None of these items appear afterwards: you see them all in the proposal, before you decide.

Is the price shown the final one?

It's the real starting point in a double. From there the journey is built to measure: dates, single room, extra nights, accommodation category. Every variation has its price visible in the proposal, before you confirm. After that, nothing changes.

Are flights included in the price?

No. We don't sell them and we don't profit from them: we point you to the best combination for your dates and you book it, often spending less than it would cost to include them.

How much is the single supplement on the Camino?

It depends on the route and the season: a single room costs the properties almost as much as a double, and the supplement reflects that cost. You always see it before confirming.

Is it worth doing the Camino de Santiago yourself?

If you sleep in an albergue with your pack on your back, yes: you spend less. If you want a private room, luggage carried and support, the cost difference shrinks a lot and what remains is mostly a difference in time and peace of mind.

When is it best to book to spend less?

2-3 months ahead for high season (May-September): not for discounts, which we don't do, but because the best properties on the stages sell out early and the alternatives cost more.
