ARRIVALS IN SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA FEBRUARY 2016

Many were the arrivals in Santiago during the month of February

A total of 1,733 pilgrims braved the rain and snow that hit the Iberian Peninsula, and Galicia in particular, during the past month.

Right at the end of their journey they also had to face this challenge, but nothing stops a pilgrim and their desire to reach the destination.

Many Portuguese and Koreans, second in number only to the Spanish.

The French Way remains the most travelled route, with very high percentages, and Sarria the city from which the greatest number of pilgrims departed. Many departures also from Saint-Jean-Pied-De-Port, O'Cebreiro and Leon.

On the Portuguese side, the towns of Porto and Tui stand out, for the Portuguese Way, which confirms itself as the best alternative to the French Way.

The English Way, third in our ranking, sees all its departures from Ferrol, the first city where the Compostela can be obtained.

Many students, and a large number of under-30s, lower the average age on the Camino de Santiago, bringing it almost level with the 30-60 age group, the most represented.
