The Botafumeiro Swings No More for Santiago Pilgrims
The iconic censer ritual has been suspended from Friday pilgrim masses at Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, marking the end of one of the Camino's most cherished traditions.

From 1 January 2017, the Botafumeiro will no longer be the protagonist of the Friday evening Mass dedicated to pilgrims. A note on the Cathedral of Santiago website announces that "Until further notice, the Botafumeiro will not swing during the 7:30pm Friday Mass".
