Hello everyone, I'm Alberto Franceschi, a commercial photographer from Bolzano (South Tyrol) and a passionate walker. Travelling is my second passion, or perhaps my first... and I always carry my camera with me. My recent walking journeys have been the French Way to Santiago and the Camino del Norte, or Coastal Route. Both were extraordinary experiences. In 2013, when I first walked the French Way, I wasn't entirely sure why—I simply felt the need to be alone for a while. I took thirty days off and set out. It was a unique experience; I walked 35-40 kilometers daily without feeling burdened. On the contrary, with each day I felt lighter, and perhaps a little more at peace with myself and the world.

I'm not entirely sure what it is, but when I walk, my mind empties and fills with more positive thoughts. The knots untie themselves, and consciousness awakens. Your body, strengthened each day, allows you to cover distances with increasing ease, almost effortlessly. Head and legs are connected, working together to create an almost transcendent, beneficial sensation.

Walking also means moving from one place to another, constantly discovering something new. Through photography, I bring home a piece of that reality, that atmosphere, and more—to share the experience with others.

I walked the Camino del Norte in two stages: first in September 2015 from Irun to Santander, and then in October 2016 from Santander to Santiago de Compostela. This small photographic contribution is dedicated to all those who love to walk and seek answers to their own questions.
