Here we are again, at the beginning of a new year, ready to set off and start again, with great expectations and hopes for what is to come: this is the best time to allow ourselves a little time, before resuming the daily grind, to work on our ideas and projects, set our next goals, and, above all, to plan the activities needed to achieve them.
Take these days to organize your diary, filling it with good intentions and pleasant habits to best prepare yourself for your next journey. If you like, you can draw inspiration from these tips... walk toward your best 2021!
1. Celebrate your milestones
Before looking to the future, take one last look behind you and think about all the stages you have gone through to get to where you are now. Go back over the past months and write down on a sheet of paper what has happened that was beautiful and meaningful: frame it.
Congratulate yourself on the results you have achieved, on the challenges you have faced, on the times you have fallen and got back up, on the adventures you have undertaken. Well done! It will help you maintain or regain your self-esteem!
2. Listen to the silence
After the noise and frenzy of the holidays, it is good to turn down the volume and give voice to the parts of ourselves we have set aside, to pay attention to the things that usually escape us, to recognize our fragility and belonging (or not) to what surrounds us. Listen to yourself consciously, without fear or judgment, with the sole intention of creating that emptiness that allows us to cleanse body and mind of accumulated toxins and bring us closer to our most authentic self.
3. Plan
As we know, planning is one of the fundamental actions if we want to achieve goals. And if we have also set ourselves some walking trips, the first thing to do is to decide which adventures we want to undertake. So pen and paper, and let us set up this 2021.
Write down in black and white 11 trips you would like to take in 2021. Start by writing down the ones you think are most easily achievable, then let your imagination run wild, go overboard, push beyond and include in the list that long-dreamed-of and desired trip that has been on your wish list for too long. Maybe 2021 is exactly the right year to make it happen!
4. Take care of yourself
Dedicate time to yourself and to activities for your wellbeing: exercise, meditate, and if your plans for the new year also include some walking trips, schedule some hours of walking each week too. Be ready for new adventures!
Eat properly, sleep regularly and sufficiently, read, treat yourself to a relaxing massage. Taking care of oneself is an act of love we direct toward ourselves that allows us to maintain high energy and enthusiasm, as well as to reconnect with the natural dimension of things.
5. Go with the flow
Lose yourself in something you are passionate about, nurture your hobbies, express your creativity, do what you enjoy; immerse yourself at least once a week in a stimulating activity that motivates you and in which you feel in complete harmony with the universe, so much so that you do not notice the hours passing, and let yourself be carried by the feeling of joy and satisfaction you experience.
6. Dream
Write down your goals for the future, focus on something that gives important meaning to your life, through which you can make a difference and contribute to the world: what desire fulfills you completely, in which you know you can put all your determination and willpower. What is your next destination? Draw your journey.
7. Seize the moment
Pay attention to every step, every single stage that will allow you to achieve your dream; planning is important, but even more so is seizing, every day, in every opportunity, in every obstacle that appears on the path, a way to know yourself, overcome your limits, face difficulties, put your potential into play. Enjoy the simple things that happen unexpectedly.
8. Be kind
Be kind to yourself and to others, do not dwell on mistakes, lend a hand; call a friend you have not heard from in a while, make someone happy, smile at a stranger. Cultivate good relationships and be grateful for the people you meet and who support you on your daily path, those you can ask for help and comfort. Let emotions circulate.
9. Slow down
Do one thing at a time and move away from negative distractions; disconnect from what is not important, from physical and mental devices, so as to be able to get in tune with your personal rhythms. This will help you make fewer mistakes, keep your memory active, be more focused and efficient. Being exposed to a continuous flow of information and possible demands fuels the need for control and anxiety... Move slowly.
10. Make space
If you have not done so already, it is time to tackle your wardrobes and drawers and eliminate everything that is no longer needed! Even if it is not always easy to part with something we have had with us for a long time, throwing out broken or unused clothes and objects is a fundamental step to creating the space needed to welcome the new. And, if you can, along with them, try to also let go of all the experiences, emotions, thoughts, sensations and fears that prevent you from proceeding serenely... it is always better to set off light.
11. Stop
Remember to take breaks, between one activity and another or between one period and another; breathe deeply, go out and stretch your legs, have a snack. Reset, reboot, start again. It is essential for not getting too tired and keeping stress at bay, and for creating that detachment that allows you to have a broader vision, to select and choose with greater clarity.
And when things go really wrong
and cannot change, try to
CHANGE YOUR POINT OF VIEW.
