Give the Gift of Walking: A Life-Changing Experience

A walking journey is not only an unforgettable experience, but it comes with countless benefits: the special connection you create with nature, the awareness of travelling with yourself, improvements to your physical and mental health, and a deeper connection with local culture.

You might be thinking: “Of course, what would you say—you make your living selling these kinds of trips?”

Let me tell you that yes, you’re right.

But before we started organising walking journeys, even before the idea crossed our minds, we were already in love with this distinct form of travel.

They say if you work with your passion, you won’t work a single day of your life.

While we don’t entirely agree with that, when we organise your walking journeys we truly pour our hearts into it—because we want you to experience the same wonderful emotions we feel when we travel on foot.

We dedicate ourselves to walking journeys because we believe in them, because we’re passionate about what we do, and because there isn’t a single trail on A piedi per il mondo that we don’t know like the back of our hand!

Why give yourself—or someone else—a walking journey? Because it changes your life!

Walking journeys are different—they have a special allure.

There’s something about them that’s nearly impossible to achieve when you move by motorised transport. Yes, it’s faster, of course, but you lose much of the magic.

And believe me when I say we know what we’re talking about. Walking journeys have such power that they change your life. And no, we’re not exaggerating.

We all know someone who went to Nepal (or somewhere else) and came back a different person.

Generally, these stories share one common thread: walking, letting go, and immersing yourself in local culture.

All of these experiences together typically lead to inner transformation, because even though it sounds like a cliché, “journeys begin within ourselves.”

It’s clear that a trip to New York can change your life, and perhaps if I’m lucky and someone comments on this post, they’ll tell me exactly that—that a trip to New York (or anywhere) can change your life without needing to do it on foot.

Or that ultimately, wherever you go, you’re always walking anyway.

And that’s true—when we travel, we usually explore cities on foot, but we’re talking about very different kinds of routes.

Walking journeys: you have to experience it to believe it

You know that thing mothers tell their daughters: “you’ll understand when you become a mother”? As if not having children meant we were missing some vital information, some truth only accessible to them?

It’s the same with walking journeys.

I’d venture to say, for all the sceptics out there, that there are things you only understand by taking a walking journey.

As if a veil lifts that was preventing you from seeing the world clearly.

As if magic reveals itself—magic you didn’t know existed—as if you connect with a different version of yourself, a version that was living hidden inside you and now has complete freedom of movement.

Perhaps you think I’m exaggerating, that the only difference in walking travel is that you’re also more uncomfortable because you have a rucksack on your back.

If that’s the case, our paths part here—I wish you well and hope we meet again.

But if I’ve managed to plant the seed of the idea that you should give yourself—or someone else—a walking journey, then I’ve achieved my goal.

You know that feeling when you love a film so much that you can’t wait to recommend it to everyone and want them all to see it so you can discuss it? That irresistible urge to share something you love?

That’s it.

If you don’t know what to give, give a walking journey—do it for the recipient who will be thrilled, do it for yourself, because you’re giving something that goes beyond the material, do it for me, because I’ve poured all my passion into this article 😉 Here you’ll find our gift cards!
