Portuguese Way from Tui – Stage 3 – Travel Blog
Day three on the Portuguese Way from Tui takes you from Arcade to Pontevedra through one of the most breathtaking stages of the entire pilgrimage route.
A Piedi Per Il Mondo

Today's stage is short. Only 12km separate Arcade from Pontevedra.
The forecast shows no rain until 4:00 PM and indeed the sky gives us hope! Finally you can walk without a poncho and pack cover.
You leave the village and immediately find yourself in front of a postcard view: a long Roman bridge, a small gulf, a green grove, and a building with stone facades. We see horreos everywhere, typical Galician constructions of rectangular shape raised from the ground, which were used to store grain and protect it from ground moisture and animals.
Now considered more as an ornament for home gardens than for their original purpose, they remain an extremely fascinating construction that tells us a story and takes us back in imagination to times gone by, when the land and agriculture truly meant life for the local inhabitants.
We then enter the forest and stay there for most of the stage. The intense green of the trees, as well as the scent of eucalyptus and wet woodland, give us a sense of well-being that is hard to describe. We breathe in deeply the nature that surrounds us, we feel its embrace, and inside we are grateful for the chance to experience it.
On the uphill paths we often have to avoid the incessant flow of water that pours down from above onto the forest floor, and it is invigorating to become aware of how much life there is in a drop of water and how quickly it can turn into a trickle and then into a river.
The theme of the day is therefore life!
A universal force accompanies you when you walk in the midst of nature. And perceiving it is easy, you just need to pay attention and lighten your heart.
