Arrivées à Santiago en Août 2016

De nombreux pèlerins ont parcouru les chemins espagnols. 53.712 arrivées à Santiago en août, un chiffre inférieur aux attentes.

L’Oficina de acogida al peregrino a publié aujourd’hui les chiffres relatifs aux arrivées à Santiago en août : 53.712 pèlerins, soit 1.084 de moins qu’à la même période l’année précédente. Un résultat qui fait réfléchir, nous qui pensions à une forte augmentation des flux, notamment en août.

Ce n’est pas que 50 mille personnes en un mois, c’est peu, mais considérant que c’est l’année sainte de la miséricorde et que beaucoup a été dit autour du Chemin de Santiago cette année, on imaginait quelque chose de plus. Personnellement, je crois que les pèlerins des chemins italiens y ont contribué pour beaucoup, notamment la Via Francigena, que je pense avoir attiré plusieurs milliers de personnes (bien que je ne possède pas encore de données pour le confirmer).

Un regard sur les chiffres des arrivées à Santiago en Août 2016

Les Espagnols, avec près de 60%, restent les pèlerins les plus fidèles au Chemin de Santiago ; les Andalous et les Madrilènes sont les plus assidus.

Parmi les étrangers, les Italiens restent en tête avec 15%, suivis de loin par les Allemands et les Portugais. À noter une présence importante de Polonais, jusque-là toujours en nombre très faible.

Encore une fois, Sarria remporte le palmarès de la plus grande ville de départ du Chemin. Suivi de Tui, ensemble ils frôlent les 19 mille pèlerins. Les derniers 100 km l’emportent donc une nouvelle fois, au détriment d’une expérience plus authentique et plus profonde, certes beaucoup plus longue qu’une semaine. Pour le Chemin Français, presque un pèlerin sur deux part de Sarria ; il en va de même pour le Chemin Portugais, depuis Tui.

Les chiffres des arrivées à Santiago en août montrent donc un scénario stable, qui bien que les nombres changent, ne modifient pas les proportions. Toujours un peu moins de femmes que d’hommes, un nombre élevé de vélos pendant les mois d’été, très peu à cheval, et beaucoup de ceux qui décident de partir à pied directement de leur pays, comme les 82 personnes d’Allemagne et les 75 des Pays-Bas.

Nous attendons les chiffres du mois prochain pour faire un récapitulatif sur l’été sur le Chemin de Santiago.
